I accept that Mary and think that this is a large part of the problem as
explained below.

Thanks Mary and it wasn't my intention to upset you when I made these
remarks. My apologies.
The way I see it is that this is an interpretation of Pirsigs work and,
according to Pirsig, not something that Pirsig sees as the correct
interpretation. Bo, yourself and others are inferring something from
what Pirsig has said and Pirsig has stated that what you are inferring
is not what he intended or meant. This seems quite clear and as such,
Pirsigs opinion should be respected.
Pirsig is clear that he doesn't see SOM/SOL as the Intellectual level
and to say he is wrong about what he believes or intended is very
strange. Supporting your argument that SOM/SOL = Intellectual level by
quoting sections from ZMM or Lila is fine - to say that Pirsig agrees
with your position or originated this idea, when he clearly says that he
doesn't and didn't, is to say that either he's not bright enough to know
what he means or he's lying. Either way I find this unacceptable.
There is a third way - that Pirsig is right and Bo is wrong. Which is
the position that most people on here tend towards. But whatever the
case it is still wrong to suggest that Pirsig supports Bo's position
when Pirsig says he doesn't.
Bo's interpretation is just that - an interpretation by Bo and not
Pirsigs intention or belief. Bo and you and Platt are quite free to say
that your interpretation of what Pirsig says is X and then back this up
with quotes - that's fine by me. Just remember that Pirsig is not
agreeing with you and acknowledge this in your interpretation. To say
otherwise is, to my mind, not being honest.

If anyone's interested, Laramie Loewen (or whoever else he may be) is
now being moderated. I really don't think what he's been posting
deserves any place on this forum.
