Mary to Andre:
Andre, it is nice to find common ground for a change. A mix of the two is
what seems to be needed. I recently had the opportunity to watch Michael
Moore's film, "Capitalism: A Love Story". I don't know, but you might enjoy
it?
Andre:
Hi Mary, nice of you to have picked up on this and I think this reflects the 'spirit' of the MOQ as well. I have not seen Moore's film but will try to find an opportunity to do so. Further to this, Northrop's 'Meeting of East and West' seems to be a plea to retain those intellectual patterns from both sides of the moon that are of high quality and which in turn will produce a high quality, integrated vision for the future.
Both 'sides', and there are of course many variants in between, are a genuine attempt at revealing the 'Good' through the adoption of the differing ideologies. I am convinced that Hu Jintao and Obama are attempting to work towards the same goal... but as said in a recent post to Bodvar ( quoted from ZMM) people's responses to Quality do differ...analogies upon analogies. This refers not only to one's personal analogies but are integrated in the cultural as well. Hence the different approaches.
I am glad to hear you are at least open to a consideration of working towards common understanding and exchanging the best of all the differing ideologies that make up the variety of different intellectual patterns within this world. Perhaps Northrop was a bit naive in some respects but I am convinced that Platt's stance is very low quality indeed.
