Yes, you're right, that's the general idea. Somewhere Pirsigs says 
"The Quality evolution isn't towards, but away from all static grips". It's 
just me a compulsive "systematist" who can't (after Pirsig went to such 
length about the element carbon's role in the inorganic-organic 
migration) but search for the "carbon" in all level transitions. Regarding 
the biological-social one I think it was the big-brained Homo Sapiens 
organism that were the social evolution's building block, that's pretty 
obvious because the Q-social only refers to humankind. When it 
comes to the social-intellectual - and IMO ZAMM describes the event 
in Greece - it must be a SOCIAL pattern   ...no? I've wondered if was 
the city state that provided the leisure for activities beyond the social 
chores and duties ... well that's as far as I hve come, but the 
"freemdom urge" goes a long way.
