Hi Folks
Just to put a few peoples minds at rest I thought I should make a few
comments.
If you remember, over the last few weeks I have made a couple of requests.
The first was to refrain from bullshit politics (you're a commie, you're
a fascist, blah blah blah....).
The second was a request to make a bit more effort to edit posts and
include only those parts of previous posts that are relevant.
The first request has, by and large, been heeded and there has been less
silly bickering over whose political position is the right one etc. Also
discussion of local politics has died down. Good. And thank you to all
who listened.
The second request was, for the most part ignored by those who were
banging out one-liners on a 30K post and carried on doing so. For this
reason I put a 10K cap on all posts and rejected any posts that failed
to heed my request. Some posts were (and still are!) coming through at
under 10K without the requested editing so I put those members doing so
on moderation and made polite requests for them to do a better editing
job. I shall be continuing to do this if the need arises.
Posts that are over 10K but edited properly are passed straight through
with minimal delay.
I am making no comments on rejected posts about content - just editing.
So please don't start screaming 'censorship' etc. as that isn't
happening for the most part - only a couple have been rejected for
content and were related to the first request.
I will be continuing to do the above until the majority of posts are
properly edited, at which point I will increase the post size limit.
On a forum which is concerned with Quality I don't see that insisting on
good editing and care when replying is too much to ask. If you haven't
noticed then check the posts over the last week or so. They have (IMO)
become more easily readable and coherent. We seem to be having
conversations now and not just random comments thrown about in fits of
pique etc.
Thanks to all those that have listened to my requests and acted
appropriately.
Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible. :)
