However, certain modes of teaching such as creationism are banned from the
classroom.
[Arlo]
This kinda gets into another issue, to recap though, comparative mythology
courses are in many high school curriculae, we have it here (it is an
elective). So its not that "creationism" is not in "schools", is it, its that
your "one true" creation myth isn't being taught in the science classroom.
If your goal is for your kid to learn your creation myth, why do you look to
the schools at all? Is this goal not better served by your particular church
and by you? The schools do not teach many things, I can image the
"flat-earthers" are annoyed that "flat earth theory" is not taught in the
schools.
In short, if YOU teach YOUR kid your particular "creationism", why is that not
enough for you? Why do you demand that it be taught to MY kid?
[Mark]
Science is as much a religion. It is the profound indoctrination that makes it
seem not.
[Arlo]
Right. Back in the 60's and 70's, the impetus of "religion" was to elevate
itself to the status of "science". You had "clerics" going out to Mt. Ararat
looking for archeological "proof" their stories were not stories but historical
accounts.
When this failed, since the 80s, the impetus is to "lower" science to the level
of "religion". By making science, "just another religion", it would no longer
be able to hold special dominance over "the Word". "Evolution" became "just
another story" one can easily supplant with "Genesis".
[Mark's reply]
I do not think we have a problem with ignoring [racism], just misusing.
[Arlo]
I see and hear everyday racism. Just the other week I was watching the football
game and someone in the bar said "when is Paterno gonna drop his little pet
nigger?"... Most people laughed. We shouldn't pretend racism does not exist,
that it is not a problem, and that it needs to be addressed. Perhaps current
modes of response have proven weak, but we can't ignore it either.
[Mark]
You are also sqwualking typical talk-radio soundbites, so what?
[Arlo]
Such as? Talking about interracial marriage?
[Mark]
Typically I am very direct and do not resort to PC. Of course if I am in an
interview with a retard, I will not mention it.
[Arlo]
Why? If "PC" is such a great evil, why don't you call him to his face what you
call him behind his back? Coward?
