[MD] Changes in 2011

Hi Folks

Over the last couple of days/weeks you've probably seen from my posts 
that I've getting more and more fed up with the whole SOL based and 
influenced debacle that has been going on for some time now. It came to 
a head previously in August 2010 and Bo ended up leaving.
I did try and give Bo and his followers some leeway at the time  in the 
hope that they would calm down and stop shouting so loudly. 
Unfortunately, I can see now that this was the wrong approach. The 
trying to be fair approach doesn't seem to work. What has happened is 
that the SOL has changed into Reification and the nonsense has started 
up again. So I'm shutting it down. Completely.

This is the beginning of what I would like to see as a move back towards 
discussing Robert Pirsig's MoQ. This is what it says at the start of the 
MD Charter and Rules page:

"The MOQ_DISCUSS mailing list exists to provide a general and 
free-ranging forum for the discussion of Robert M. Pirsig's Metaphysics 
of Quality."

and I think this is the key.

I don't have any problem at all with the discussions that have been 
going on where they are directly related to RMP's MOQ - and even a few 
that are in the process of adding something to his work.

What I do have a problem with is the continuing project to overrun 
Pirsig's work with something that RMP has specifically rejected - i.e. 
the SOL in whatever guise it exist now or will morph into at some point.

So, from here on in it is closed.

I'm sure this will be unpopular with at least some of you, and not 
necessarily just those that have been continuing to push Bo's work. If 
you want to see it as censorship or tyranny or a jack-booted dictatorial 
regime that's fine. MD isn't a democracy - never has been and never will 
be. It's the list that I started and have continued to run for about 12 
years and will continue to run in exactly the way that I see fit. And 
anyone that has a problem with that is out of luck.

So, no more SOL, no more Reification, no more "I miss Bo", no more "Bo 
was right" etc. etc. etc.
We all get it and it stops here and now. I will remove anyone that 
wishes to continue with it.

There will be no more warnings. At all.

Additionally I will remove anyone that starts name calling or playing 
similar games as per this:

"If you think it's amusing or clever to take the piss out of me, 
criticize me, accuse me of censorship or generally make unpleasant, 
derogatory or insulting remarks for doing my best to do my job (and do 
it properly and well) as administrator of this list then you will 
discover that you won't be participating in MD discussions any longer.
Similarly, if you want to play stupid word games with me over one of my 
decisions or try and provoke or antagonise me for doing my job as 
administrator you'll be removed without any warning whatsoever."

I'm really sorry that it has come to this but it has and I intend to put 
a stop to it in any way that is necessary.
