Hello Horse,

Thank you for the explanation. I think I see the problem now.

I happen to use Outlook 2010. By default, it formats everything as either
HTML or an XML variant. I was never too worried about this in the past
because html gets converted to plain text on the fly - or so I thought. I
know that if I am replying, the format used is whatever was used by the
original post, so replies are probably clean. The one rejected recently,
however, was not a reply, but a new thread. Voila! The server receives a
ton of html and xml tags. At least that's my theory 'cause I know it ain't
from massive quantities of text. 10kb is a hell of a lot of words.

Outlook is stubborn and secretive. It doesn't tell you what message format
it has decided to use, and upgrades you from text to fancy stuff on the fly.
It does not ask. If you put a single hyperlink in an email you get html
format at a minimum - like it or not. It is hard to force it to downgrade
to text (and be sure it's done it). I don't like it, but it's what is used
at my office and I have to be able to connect to an Exchange server. Yeah,
I imagine other mail clients can do that, but they wouldn't support IM, Live
Meeting, or Sharepoint - which I also must be able to get to. For all I
know Outlook is trying to send a live video feed to MoQ-Discuss!

Say cheese,
Mary
