Marsha,
'Tractatus Logico-Philosphophicus' is tedious, mostly analytical and logical.
His later work and ideas seem to be more in line with what you are interested in
"Philosophical Investigations"
"For a large class of cases — though not for all — in which we employ the word
‘meaning’
it can be defined thus: the meaning of a word is its use in the language" (PI
43).
Pirsig would differ in that the meaning of a word is it's use in experience.
interesting stuff.

Hi Ron,
I've only read a limited amount on what he might have meant, accompanied
by some very interesting quotes. He was describe as a skeptic, and one
interested in the limitations of language. His name has been mentioned with
that of Sextus Empiricus. I am looking for a book, a good introduction, to
his philosophical ideas. If someone could suggest one for a wiggly to read,
I would be appreciative.
