Hmmm... Not about Zen they say. Well, I would have to disagree with that. But perhaps they are Zen Masters. I will stay tuned for the discussion.

I think you're trying way too hard to be disagreeable. They're simply paraphrasing the author's note at the beginning of Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, where Pirsig says,....

"What follows is based on actual occurrences. Although much has been changed for rhetorical purposes, it must be regarded in its essence as fact. However, it should in no way be associated with that great body of factual information relating to orthodox Zen Buddhist practice. It’s not very factual on motorcycles, either."

Anyway, if you're into podcasts, The Partially Examined Life Philosophy Podcast is probably the best of its kind and they're just about to record an episode on ZAMM. Now (on their website for just a few more hours) they're taking questions on Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.
"The good news is that we were able to move up the discussion previously planned to come after that, on Robert M. Pirsig’s Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, a book that’s not about Zen and only a little bit about motorcycle maintenance. (Due to the accelerated time frame, Wes will be reading the whole book in a weekend, so we’ll see how that works out.) If you’ve already read this book or are familiar with Pirsig’s philosophy, feel free to kick us some questions to consider in our discussion". -Mark Linsenmayer
