I'm wondering how you understand the difference between "novels 
of ideas" and "literary novels."  Unless your "or" was appositive, I 
think I catch how to distinguish a character-driven novel from a 
novel of ideas, but I'm not sure I would be able to distinguish "of 
ideas" from "literary," or at least not in the way I suspect you're 
wishing to.
