[MD] Why are things called patterns?

Hi Andre,
I will desist from this agreement nonsense, I did not realize it to be a hornets nest. My apologies.
Let us turn instead to what morality means within an MoQ context. There are several pages in Lila that may bear some friendly discussion. Chapter 12, where Pirsig presents some examples on how one can formulate Quality into static patterns of value is a good chapter. On page 179 he presents some logic behind an idea of the moral fabric of the universe (my term). He speaks of the "choice" of atoms. He goes on to say that everything is an ethical activity. This he presents to remove the domination of the deterministic presentation of science.
For ethics to be true ethics, one must choose between good and evil (for example). Therefore for everything to be imbued with morality requires the freedom of choice. By definition that is free will. If morality is determined, then it cannot be called morality, IMO.
Let me know what you think.
Cheers,
Mark

I will simply adopt the line you used with Marsha on March 7: "You need to figure it out for yourself, there is nothing I can tell you" inviting, possibly the inevitable follow up exchange between you two: "Bugger off".
