More appropriate to say, "All MY static patterns of value have been molded by this [self-object (dualistic)] conditioning." That would be accurate.

According to Pirsig, subject-object metaphysics is one historical category within an overall intellectual pattern of values. To claim that this dualism effects "all" static patterns of value is to simply re-introduce Bo's faulty ideas. I understanding this is just trolling behavior, but to reiterate- if that's what you believe, I think Bo has a forum set up to discuss this. Horse- pay close attention.

dmb says:
Yes, exactly. To claim that self-object dualism effects "all" static patterns of value re-introduces a faulty idea that "undermines the MOQ," as Pirsig put it. The consequences of that word "all" are huge. If that were true, then there could be no possible way to escape SOM. If that were true, intellect would be inherently flawed, there would be no way to repair that genetic defect, the patient on the table would could never be cured and the intellectual paralysis would be permanent. If that were true, it would not be possible to reject SOM. It's a good thing Pirsig, James, Dewey, Heidegger, Stuhr, Hildebrand, Rosenthal, Granger, McWatt and DiSanto aren't as smart as Marsha. They'd be devastated to find out that what they've said and done is impossible.
