"Dumb" is a useless word in this sentence, a pejorative that adds nothing but a
false weight. I'd say "luck" is indeed a cause for celebrating. ("Boasting"?
You added this negative word too)

In the entirety of evolutionary history, it was never certain *you* would be
here. Day by day, your continued existence depends heavily on "luck" (no
asteroids have smashed into the earth last year). If this is not cause for an
ale now and then to celebrate life, I don't know what is.
