The quote you are referring to says," As long as you're inside a
logical, coherent universe of thought you can't
escape metaphysics."

I point about about menu/food being a form of a dichotomy between
subjective descriptions and objective reality as it really is, but
Pirsig never says "the way we experience reality IS a metaphysics."
You are not using "metaphysics" in the way Pirsig does. We experience
reality in lots and lots of ways that never exhaust description.
Metaphysics is only one particular sort of description. It is the high
country of the mind. It is asking a limited sort of question that in
99% of our day we don't bother asking. If "the way we experience
reality is a metaphysics" then washing the dishes is metaphysics and
even babies and animals are doing metaphysics.
