Hi DMB, I though Ant had beaten me to it with his second coming thread,

I am sympathetic to a lot of what you say about the dangers, the
cynical manipulation, and the need for action - but the call to arms
also comes with a call for wise heads.

As well as Lao Tzu's Way of Zen, we need Sun Tzu's Art of War.
If the US institutional theistic attitides are as strong as you say,
giving up on reasoning with moderates and choosing direct conflict
with extremists, tarring all theists with the same extremist brush,
sounds like the surest recipe for the rapture or armageddon. Some
would say that's actually what the extremists are hoping for.

Searching for common ground is much likley to involve the moderates.
Doing nothing is not an option - we agree.
