[MD] are theism and mysticism mutually exclusive notions?

Dan,

In thinking about the conversation we were having it occurs to me that you
definitely see the MoQ from the angle of mysticism and I see it
materialistically. If the MoQ sees both as pretty good ideas perhaps they
are not as conflicted as we are making them. For example, and correct me if
I am wrong, here but you seem to see Quality (the undefined) as a way of
getting past the illusion. I see it as a condition of our existence in a
more phenomenological sense. Either way we land in a mysterious world.

I am venting a bit here but the local college is sponsoring a four lecture
series on Religion and Cosmology. In the first lecture an astronomer was
talking about string theory and said that it is not really science because
it has yet to produce a testable hypothesis. Now that is strict materialism.
In the third lecture a theologian concluded that our attempts to understand
the world must begin with the Trinity. I wanted to break all dmb on him.

I guess what I am getting at is that even in the MoQ we end up with this
tension between the world as objects and the world as process. Or the world
is things and the world as ideas. If the MoQ is seeking to resolve this
conflict, well to quote Bart Simpson, "Are we there yet? Are we there yet?
Are we there yet?"

Hi Case

Thank you for your patience. Things do get contentious here at times and I
think it's good not to get too serious about the ideas we're discussing.
While I believe we should always keep the MOQ in mind (as this is after all
moq_discuss), sticking to the point too closely tends to stifle creative
thinking -- at least in my personal experience.

Often times I find that the answers to my questions are so simple and plain
that when I happen to stub my toe on them I wonder why it was that I didn't
see them all along. Usually it's because I rejected the answers out of hand
on account of the baggage I'm carrying.

Once again, thanks for your patience, and perhaps we will talk again one
day.

Dan
