No, fuel taxes are not toll roads (but you knew that).

Obviously, that's not my reason.
1) Some services of government (police/military/fire department)
should only be done by government. Otherwise, your private
police arrest me, try me in your private court & sentence me to
your private jail. Then my private police arrest you, try you in
my private court & sentence you to my private jail. Citizens can
be required to pay for these government functions.
2) Some services could be provided privately, but it's
impractical to do so. Imagine competing power companies
stringing lines throughout the neighborhood (plus telephone
companies, cable companies, water companies, etc.). User
fees can be charged for these services.
Neither education, housing, medical care, food, clothing, etc.
fall into these first two categories.
3) Some services can be provided through voluntary interchange.
Individuals decide what they want to offer for these & others decide
whether to accept.
But my views aren't the end, even if correct. Can the MoQ decide
these issues?
