Todd, in my Pirsig's comments on Idealism I came across a pertinent Quote:

"You are never going to be able to prove the existence of that which lies
beyond static patterns by piling on more static patterns to prove it.
Copleston is saying that if isn’t on the menu then there isn’t any meal.
The Buddha is saying, “Just eat."

I like that, "just eat"
