[MD] Emotions

There is a slightly different way to look at our intellect. That is
it is a continuum of our emotions. When we feel fear, our intellect
clicks in and converts it to rational thoughts. Those rational
thoughts are nothing more than an expression of that fear, in a
part of our brain which devides things up SOM. The fear comes
always first, then the thoughts rationalize it. If anxiety is the abstraction
of that fear and its maintenance through thoughts then this
demonstrates the power of thoughts for mantaining an
emotion. If the thoughts are dropped, the fear dissapears,
until it reappears (prior to thought) and stimulates those
thoughts again. There is no doubt there is a feedback system
wherein the thoughts can maintain an emotion, but they certainly
cannot produce it, that comes before intellect.

Say emotion is like electricity. When the electricity hits your
LCD screen it creates a picture. Thoughts are simply an
expression of an emotion. They devide it up, correlate it,
give it symbols. They are the final stage of an emotion. Language
then allows us to transfer that emotion to another, by means of
rational thought.

Thus emotion to thoughts to language to recipient to thoughts to emotion
in the other.

How can we be non-intellectually aware of our emotions? Emotions are
intellectual constructions i.e they are arrived at by postulation.

e name the emotions and our names are intellectual constructions. But what
o our names signify? They signify something, that's for sure.
And a deer fleeing a mountain lion surely experiences the emotion we call
fear", but how much intellect does a deer possess?
Not much; believe me if you've never tried to hold a conversation with one.
