Northrop is an interesting case...It might have sounded profound on a troop ship heading into the Korean conflict but 60 years later, I lost interest early on. Andre apparently persevered but I thought
it was a waste of time.

Yes I did persevere Krimel, not because I thought it was boring but because its subject matter is difficult. However, surely the relevance of a philosophical work should not be judged in terms of 'time'. It set Phaedrus on his quest(is ancient Greek philosophy still relevant in the 20th century?) and surely Newton's and Galilei's scientific enquiries,upon which Locke and others built their subsequent philosophical theories, which in turn laid the foundation for developing political and economic theories(and many country's Constitutions)and led to theoretical religious adjustments, all of which can be recognised today and therefore as being very, very relevant. Imho.
