Hi Mark,
Physics, what we define as what we know! Metaphysics an indefinable order
in existence, evolution! Pirsig saw the need for a reality of experience of
an indefinable metaphysical DQ as necessary for an scientific SQ order for
logic. He proposed a Metaphysics of Quality DQ/SQ.
How? Does evolution embrace Physics (definable SQ), or Metaphysics
(indefinable DQ)? IMHO this distinction between a physical and metaphysical
order SQ/DQ highlights boundaries for the playing field in logic for tilting
at the windmills of reality. I suggest that the knowledge DQ/SQ evolution
describes an order for existence in logic through which metaphysics as DQ/SQ
manifests.
